Tariff Parameters
With tariff parameters, you set how much you pay for your electricity. This allows the app to show you not only consumption but also the resulting costs.
Why Set Tariff Parameters?β
Without tariff settings, you only see your consumption in kWh. With tariffs, you learn:
- πΆ How much your consumption costs
- π Cost development over time
- π‘ Savings potential in euros
- π Revenue from PV feed-in (if available)
Tariff configuration is optional. If you only want to see consumption, you can skip this step!
Accessing Tariff Parametersβ
- Open the stromleser app
- Select your stromleser.one
- Tap on Settings βοΈ
- Select Tariff Parameters
What Parameters Are There?β
1. Basic Chargeβ
What is it? The monthly basic charge of your electricity tariff, independent of consumption.
Where do I find it? On your electricity bill, often referred to as "basic fee" or "basic charge."
Example:
- β¬9.90 per month
- β¬12.50 per month
Entry:
Enter the amount in euros, e.g., 9.90
The basic charge is automatically broken down to days to calculate daily costs.
2. Energy Price (Single Tariff)β
What is it? The price per consumed kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity.
Where do I find it? On your electricity bill, listed as "energy price" or "ct/kWh."
Example:
- 32.5 ct/kWh
- 28.9 ct/kWh
- β¬0.325/kWh (equals 32.5 ct/kWh)
Entry:
Enter the price in cents per kWh, e.g., 32.5
3. Dual Tariff (HT/NT) - Optionalβ
If you have a dual-tariff meter (e.g., day/night tariff):
High Tariff (HT)β
- Usually daytime electricity
- Usually more expensive than low tariff
- Example: 35.2 ct/kWh
Low Tariff (NT)β
- Usually nighttime electricity
- Usually cheaper than high tariff
- Example: 24.8 ct/kWh
Time Windows: The app automatically recognizes from the meter data when HT and when NT applies. You don't need to set times!
Only select "Dual Tariff" if you actually have an HT/NT meter!
4. Feed-in Compensation (PV Systems) - Optionalβ
What is it? The amount you receive from your grid operator per kWh fed into the grid.
When is it relevant? Only if you have a photovoltaic system and feed electricity into the grid.
Where do I find it?
- In the feed-in agreement with your grid operator
- On the PV billing statement
- Depends on the year your system was commissioned
Examples:
- 8.2 ct/kWh (systems from 2023)
- 10.5 ct/kWh (systems from 2020)
Entry:
Enter the amount in cents per kWh, e.g., 8.2
Example Configurationsβ
Simple Tariff Without PVβ
Basic Charge: β¬9.90 / month
Energy Price: 32.5 ct/kWh
Tariff Type: Single Tariff
HT/NT Tariffβ
Basic Charge: β¬12.50 / month
Energy Price HT: 35.2 ct/kWh
Energy Price NT: 24.8 ct/kWh
Tariff Type: Dual Tariff (HT/NT)
Single Tariff With PV Systemβ
Basic Charge: β¬9.90 / month
Energy Price: 32.5 ct/kWh
Tariff Type: Single Tariff
Feed-in Compensation: 8.2 ct/kWh
Saving Settingsβ
After entering all tariff information:
- Check your entries
- Tap on Save
- Settings take effect immediately
What Happens After Saving?β
The app now calculates:
- β Daily costs based on your consumption
- β Monthly projections
- β Cost comparisons between periods
- β Revenue from PV feed-in (if configured)
Tariff Adjustmentsβ
When Should I Update Tariffs?β
- π When your electricity provider raises tariffs
- π When switching providers
- π° If feed-in compensation changes
How Does a Change Affect Things?β
- New values apply from the time of change
- Historical data is not recalculated retroactively
- The app shows in the timeline when tariff changes were made
Where Do I Find My Tariff Information?β
On the Electricity Billβ
- Look for "Price Breakdown" or "Tariff Details"
- Basic charge usually at the top of the document
- Energy price often listed in a table
From Your Electricity Providerβ
- Online customer portal
- Contract documents
- Customer service hotline
Typical Termsβ
- "Basic Fee" = Basic Charge
- "Consumption Price" = Energy Price
- "ct/kWh" = Cents per kilowatt-hour
- "HT/NT" = High Tariff/Low Tariff
- "Day/Night" = HT/NT tariff

Frequently Asked Questionsβ
Do I need to provide tariff parameters?β
No, it's optional! Without tariff parameters, the app only shows consumption values in kWh, not costs.
Can I change tariffs later?β
Yes, at any time! Just go to settings and adjust the values.
What if I don't know my energy price?β
Check your last electricity bill or contact your electricity provider. Alternatively, you can skip this step and add it later.
Is historical data recalculated?β
No, tariff changes always apply from the time of entry. Historical data remains unchanged.
Can I store different tariffs for different periods?β
The app automatically stores when you made tariff changes. This keeps historical cost calculations accurate.
