Getting Ready

The Bridge connects to the internet through your WiFi. During first setup you enter the credentials conveniently on your smartphone — no cable or computer needed. To make sure the setup goes smoothly, have the following ready.

Placement of the Bridge

The Bridge needs WiFi reception with internet access at its location. It only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi – 5 GHz networks do not work.

For the app setup

  • energieleser app: Download the energieleser app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) and create an account.
  • WiFi credentials: Have the name and password of your WiFi ready.
  • Bluetooth: Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and make sure the app is allowed to use it in the settings. On Android the app also needs the "Location" permission so it can find the Bridge.
  • AES key: If you add radio meters, have the AES key ready. Without it, your radio meters cannot be read.
  • PIN: If you want to add electricity meters via the Node and retrieve real-time data, have the PIN of your electricity meter ready.
Where do I get the AES key?

You get the AES key from your property management or your regional grid operator (municipal utility).

Only registered meters are read

The Bridge ignores all radio signals from meters that are not registered. A new meter therefore only delivers data after you have added it. Your meter list is kept even after a restart.

Next Step

Continue with Pairing the Bridge.
